WELCOME

We are excited to welcome you to Wellsville Health & Rehab’s website! Located in the rural community of Wellsville, Kansas, the values and stability of a small town help to make our retirement community special. Our location is quiet and peaceful, yet we are still within minutes of the Kansas City metro and Ottawa and the activities they offer.

We have nursing care available 24 hours a day, seven days a week and our rehab program offers physical, occupational, and speech therapies to help residents enhance or regain their independence. Additionally, we also provide short-stay rehab, long-term care, respite care and hospice services.

ABOUT US

Our 60-bed skilled nursing home and 20 bed assisted living in Wellsville is under the local ownership of Scott & Susan Averill of Overbrook, KS. The Averill’s purchased Wellsville Manor from AltaCare Corporation of Alpharetta, Georgia who had owned it since 1994. The Averill’s also own Brookside Health & Rehab in Overbrook which is a 5-time recipient of the PEAK award presented at the annual Governor’s Conference on Aging.

Wellsville Health & Rehab has undergone an extensive remodeling effort since its purchase by the Averill’s. Construction in 2013 has revealed a significant change as a new neighborhood has been added to skilled nursing along with an assisted living building! Our additions have made it look “home-like” and updates continue to happen.

Wellsville Health & Rehab has multiple buses we use for resident outings along with two vans with wheelchair lifts that will be used for transporting residents to and from appointments.

Our monthly newsletter, named in an area-wide contest, called "The Wellsville Welcomer," in which we talk about activities, show a potpourri of photos highlighting residents and staff members, and have Spotlight questions where we get to query our caregivers with thought-provoking questions, comes out at the beginning of each month.  We also celebrate one resident and one staff member with a photo and narrative. Let us know if you wish to be added to the distribution list.

The staff members at Wellsville Health & Rehab have made a commitment to take on resident-centered care which is also referred to as “culture change.” This is a nationwide movement that many nursing homes are engaging in that has to do with transforming the environment of a nursing home from that of an “institution” into that of a “home.”

Our nursing home also pushes the envelope with great benefits and extraordinary, out-of-the-box opportunities for staff and residents alike. It is our vision to make the spectacular, the sensational and the unconventional our regular standard of care.

Our staff and residents have opportunities to take trips such as to Disney World, Chicago, Las Vegas and cruises. We arranged for one residents, Helen, to travel to New York along with activities director, Jennifer Carpenter and long-time CNA to see the Jerry Springer Show – it was Helen’s longtime wish.  Each year we have a staff party for all staff members, their spouses and children. Here, we have given away free hot air balloon rides, twin engine plane rides, massages, skydiving adventures, and day trips to Chicago with site seeing and subway rides.

Come visit us – Wellsville Health & Rehab; we are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week!

"This is a place filled with a wonderful spirit with a focus on those who are there. So many fun activities with a staff who focuses on the residents — always making them feel warm and welcome. Unlike other places we experienced, the staff at Wellsville NEVER makes the residents feel like they are a burden or a bother…they treat them like family. I cannot recommend this place strongly enough. A top notch place — A++++!"
